The XIIth Plenary Assembly of the International Radio Consultative Committee (CCIR) meets in New Delhi on 21st January 1970 to study technical and operating questions relating to radio communication and to issue recommendations on them. The CCIR Plenary Assembly meets once in about every 3 years.
The CCIR, which was established in 1927 in one of the permanent organs of the International Tele-communication Union (ITU), which investigates, and advices the ITU on technical, and operation matters connected with radio, including new problems of space communication.
The CCIR provides agreed technical criteria upon which international radio discussions and agreements can be based. It also decides the technical characteristics to be recommended for equipment and systems used in international radio communication. This work is carried out through a number of study groups which covers diverse subjects like radio transmitters and receivers, sound and television broadcasting, radio propagation, international radio monitoring, satellite communication, maritime and aeromobile radio systems, etc. |
